“On behalf of our Boards of Directors and Trustees, I am extremely pleased to announce the recruitment of Kansas Imaging Consultants (KIC) to Coffeyville Regional Medical Center,” stated Dr. Mark Woodring, CEO of CRMC. “This recruitment is the culmination of much work and collaboration with our medical staff, and we also want to thank the Montgomery County Commissioners for their support of recruiting KIC to our communities as well.”
CRMC and Montgomery County recently partnered on a preferred provider network plan for county employees with goals to improve health outcomes and lower costs for members and families enrolled on the county health insurance plan. “As a preferred healthcare provider for Montgomery County employees, we have been successful in achieving those goals and we look forward to continuing that partnership as we believe there is much more for us to accomplish together. CRMC is one of the lowest-cost hospitals in the nation, and as the only healthcare organization in the region accredited by The Joint Commission, our care team provides quality services at the highest levels and standards. CRMC provides Medicare beneficiaries, and other purchasers of healthcare services, tremendous value, and we appreciate the continued and growing confidence in our health system by our communities,” said Woodring.
Data suggests out-migration of Montgomery County residents has occurred through the years for various imaging and radiology services being obtained in Bartlesville and Tulsa. For the Montgomery County taxpayer, that migration costs the county more tax dollars as the charges and payments provided for those services out of county are more expensive than at CRMC. Woodring stated, “CRMC has the only 64-slice CT scanner in the region, an in-house MRI, the same linear accelerator for radiation oncology you will find at large, urban medical centers, and now our medical community is making a major upgrade in our digital X-ray offerings. Combined with our compassionate staff and clinical care team, and the expertise of KIC Board-certified radiologists who will be onsite at least three days per week to perform interventional radiology procedures in addition to their daily general coverage, CRMC continues to offer big city medicine for the patients we live, work, shop and worship with here in Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma.”
While many rural health systems are moving to a complete remote telehealth environment for radiology services, CRMC is growing its onsite capabilities for imaging needs of the region. Dr. David Gutschenritter, a native of Neodesha, will be relocating back to southeast Kansas later this year to provide primary onsite support to CRMC. The recruitment of KIC is also homecoming for Coffeyville native Dr. Timothy Benning as well, who serves as medical director of the group.
