CRMC Welcomes Michelle A. McGuirk, MD – General Surgeon

Coffeyville Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of Michelle McGuirk, MD, General Surgeon, to the medical staff and CRMC Medical Group.

“Our organization is very excited about Dr. McGuirk joining CRMC Medical Group,” said Dr. Mark Woodring, CEO of Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. “In addition to the latest general surgery techniques and procedures, she brings an incredible enthusiasm and patient-centered approach to our hospital and clinics. Please join us in welcoming her to Coffeyville and southeast Kansas.”

After working in basic-science research, as well as biomedical device engineering, Dr. Michelle A. McGuirk decided she wanted to see how her work could directly benefit patients. “I attended medical school so that I could interact with, and impact patients and their families,” said Dr. McGuirk.

Beginning in 2008, Dr. McGuirk attended the University of Colorado Medical School in Aurora. Following medical school, she moved to Wichita where she was a Senior Surgical Resident at the Wichita Center for Graduate Medical Education. She recently graduated from the program and moved to Coffeyville to practice as a General Surgeon at CRMC. “It just felt like we would be a good fit,” said Dr. McGuirk. “I wanted to stay in Kansas and find a place where I could make a noticeable impact. It felt very natural and I had positive interactions with staff and providers when I came to Coffeyville.”

While she enjoys a broad variety of surgical cases, she is trained to perform many cases laparoscopically and takes great pride in cosmetically pleasing closures for all patients.

Dr. McGuirk also likes to spend a little extra time developing relationships with her patients. “When a patient undergoes surgery, I want to be able to know something about them,” said Dr. McGuirk. “Being a surgeon is an absolute privilege for me.” She has always loved working with her hands, whether painting, gardening, knitting, or working on cars. “Surgery is a field that requires precision with your hands and intuition — it’s a gratifying way to improve a patient’s quality of life,” said Dr. McGuirk.

Dr. McGuirk is located at CRMC Medical Group – Specialty Clinic, 1400 W. 4th Street (3rd Floor of CRMC). For more information, please call 620-252-1639.
