Coffeyville Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Gabrielle Rodriguez as the November 2020 DAISY Honoree. Rodriguez, nominated by Bridget Vargas, APRN, was recognized Wednesday for always going above and beyond to ensure patients and staff have everything they need.
“She goes above and beyond every shift she works and she works a lot. She does this out of fear that the patients and staff won’t have the care they need,” said Vargas. “She is also one of the most intelligent nurses I have ever worked with over my 17 years as a nurse. She loves her patients and staff and I know when I would work a shift with Gabby that we would handle whatever was thrown our way.”
The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide patients and families every day. This is a nationally recognized award.
The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, by members of his family. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.) The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
