Local Healthcare Students Awarded Best Family Scholarship

The CRMC Foundation would like to announce the recipients of the 2020 Best Family Scholarship. For the first time in the history of the scholarship, the Best Family fund is able to award three scholarships.  The Best family recognizes the tremendous need for more healthcare workers and feel their scholarship is a way they can help others achieve their healthcare education. Three students pursuing an education in the various medical fields were selected for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The first recipient is Jami Vineyard. Vineyard is from Independence, Kansas and is currently attending the Pittsburg State University pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice.

The second recipient is Maria Payne of Oswego, Kansas.  She is attending Labette Community College studying Radiography.  She plans to graduate in May of 2021 and work full-time as a Radiologic Technologist.

The third recipient is Olivia Van Anne of Coffeyville, Kansas.  Olivia recently graduated and passed her Registered Nurse boards.  She is currently working on her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Rogers State University.

The Best Family Scholarship was created by the children of Jerry and Norma Best in memory of their father and to honor their mother. The intent of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students in the area who have been accepted into an accredited health-related program.  A regional scholarship committee made up of healthcare professionals and community members assessed applications to determine who was awarded. All funds for this scholarship are generated by fundraisers held by the family, like their fall mum sale.

Scholarship information and applications will be available in the spring for the 2021-2022 academic year at www.crmcinc.org/foundation.
