In celebration of Dr. Han’s birthday, the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Foundation has awarded three Dr. and Mrs. Chan S. Han Family Scholarship Awards for training and equipment. Following the passion of the Han Family, awards were made to departments to increase their department training for associates or enhance equipment within their department.
“Dr. Han practiced in our community for over 40 years and his commitment to the community continues today through the CRMC Foundation,” said Foundation Director Lisa Kuehn. “We are thankful for the Han family’s generosity and dedication to CRMC and the community that we serve.”
Since the fund’s inception in 2003, the Han family has poured over $40,000 into CRMC. Their generosity has allowed many CRMC departments to offer better technology and utilize advanced training at our community hospital. Awards of the Han Family Departmental Scholarships for 2021 will go to Nursing, Clinical Education and the Rehabilitation Department.
The CRMC Nursing Team will receive a new device that assists nurses in locating veins not always visible to the naked eye for IV starts. This device called the AccuVein was trialed in our hospital by several nurses with great success.
The Clinical Education department will receive a training manikin for nurse education. The manikin will be used for hands-on clinical application in the orientation process as well as mock codes and patient care drills.
The CRMC Rehabilitation Department will receive a grant for the purchase of therapeutic equipment and developmental appropriate toys to enhance their current therapy practices. The equipment will focus on fine and gross motor skills as well as sensory processing skills and speech and language development.
Dr. Chan Han began practicing in Coffeyville in 1974 and retired in 2014. He served the community as a dedicated Pediatrician taking care of multiple generations. The Dr. and Mrs. Chan S. Han Family Scholarship Award Fund was established by Dr. and Mrs. Han’s sons: Dr. Yong Y. Han, Dr. Yong S. Han and Y. Sam Han in honor of their parents and as a way to give back to the community they love and call their hometown.
