The birth of a child is one of life's most joyful experiences! We offer a family-centered approach for this memorable event. Pregnancy and childbirth can be a time of adjustment fi lled with many questions and concerns. To better prepare families for this experience, CRMC presents a number of excellent programs provided free of charge to our patients. Those who choose to participate will fi nd these programs to be valuable!
The aim of this class is the preparation of the mother and father (or other support person) emotionally, physically, and intellectually for active participation in the birth process. The course includes: relaxation exercises, what to expect during labor and delivery, practice with breathing and pushing techniques, and care after the birth. Infant care including breastfeeding and infant CPR is also included.
To schedule your class time, please call when you find out you are pregnant, or by your 4th or 5th month of pregnancy.
Older brothers and sisters are given the opportunity to learn, ask questions, and express feelings about babies. They will become more familiar with babies, as well as with the hospital. This helps ease fears and encourages their connection with the baby. We recommend that children be enrolled two to three months before the baby is due.
If a mother knows that she will be delivering by a Cesarean section, attending this class would be very benefi cial. It helps to know just what will be experienced, and how to have a speedy recovery. The class is scheduled on an individual basis at a time convenient for the family.
It is easy to sign up for any of the above listed classes. Just call 620-252-1627. If you leave a message with your name and number, we will be sure to return your call. In addition to the classes, we offer tours of our lovely facility at your convenience.
CRMC has the latest technology for mammograms. This new technology allows us to provide better quality images that can be manipulated and viewed immediately. This is a screening and diagnostic tool recommended for all women for early detection of breast cancer. Discuss the need for this test with your physician.
Osteoporosis can be a disabling disease for women. CRMC offers the best technology for screening: Dual Energy X-ray Aborptiometry (DEXA) can determine early stages of bone loss associated with osteoporosis. This disease causes bone density to decrease, making bones brittle and prone to fracture.
CRMC offers female patients a form of permanent birth control-Tubal Ligation. With highly trained staff this process is usually performed in an inpatient or outpatient department and is usually performed endoscopically. An endoscopic procedure allows a minimally invasive intervention which in turn has a shorter recovery time.
At CRMC, we acknowledge that having a hysterectomy can be a very stressful time in your life. Our team only performs hysterectomies if all avenues of healthcare have been exhausted and the problem persists. With a hysterectomy the recovery time usually is around 4 to 6 weeks.
Female bladder control problems and urinary incontinence (bladder leakage) is one of the most common problems affecting aging women. While pelvic floor exercise (such as kegel exercises) and certain medications can be of some help, only surgery can secure a long lasting favorable result. Here at CRMC, we have the latest advance in tension-free bladder slings performed by our highly trained surgeons. Our approach is a less invasive procedure and eliminates potential complications.
This procedure is performed at CRMC. There are many reasons a woman might choose to deliver a baby vaginally after a cesarean. Some women feel a sense of accomplishment with a vaginal birth, others have a medical condition which makes a repeat c-section riskier, while others do not want to repeat the lengthy and often painful recovery process associated with a c-section. Cesarean is also considered major surgery and, as such, is not without risks to mother and child, such as hemorrhage, infection and venous thromboembolism, and may place future pregnancies at increased risk for placenta previa, placenta accreta, uterine rupture, and peripartum hysterectomy. In addition, the process of labor and delivery helps prepare your baby for life outside the womb by helping him or her to expel much of the mucus and fluid from his lungs. There is also a decreased incidence of surgery-related fetal injuries (lacerations, broken bones) with a VBAC.
