Cancer Support Group, facilitated by cancer survivor, Don Lawyer (center)

For Information: Vicky Portwood, RN, MSN 620-252-1606, 620-252-1501

Every person diagnosed with cancer embarks on a journey that is unique – no two people share the same experience. How people cope after being diagnosed, during treatment, and afterward is also different for each individual. One common thread is a need for a support system.

The Tatman Cancer Center at CRMC offers a support group to help meet the needs of cancer patients and their care givers, who are a vital part of the healing process. Whether you have been recently diagnosed or have undergone treatment years ago, we invite you to join us to listen and share.

Open for both men and women who have experienced all types of cancer, this support group is very informal, and is facilitated by a cancer survivor. Care givers are also welcome and encouraged to attend. Sometimes a speaker is brought in to talk about some aspect of cancer. Many times, the group just has informal discussion. It helps to learn that others go through similar experiences and have the same questions, and it helps to know you are not alone.

The support group meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at CRMC in the Basement Board Room.

If you have any questions about the cancer support group, please contact Vicky Portwood at 620-252-1606.
